Philadelphia, Pa. - The Villanova women's volleyball team traveled into Philadelphia this evening to face the Temple University Owls in non-conference action. The home team got the best of the 'Cats as the Owls earned a straight-game victory by the scores of 15-5, 15-8, and 16-14. Game three saw Villanova take a 10-3 lead, but Temple came all the way back to close out the match. With the loss, Villanova's 1999 record drops to 9-19 overall, while Temple improves to 18-5 on the season.
There were some bright spots in the match for the 'Cats, as freshman Erin Birunas (Lancaster, Pa.) led the squad in kills with nine and had a .318 hitting percentage, and senior setter Stacey Moline (Sagle, Idaho) paced the visitors with 21 assists. Freshman Julie Wood (Metarie, La.) topped 'Nova with 10 digs.
Villanova's next match will be this Saturday at 1:00 pm as Big East leader Notre Dame comes into town.
