Wildcats Fall in Four to Friars

Oct. 10, 1999

Villanova, Pa.--- The Villanova Wildcats hosted Big East foe Providence College in conference action. The ?Cats took the first game, 15-12, but lost the next three (11-15, 9-15, 7-15). With the loss, Villanova?s record drops to 8-13 overall and 0-4 in the Big East.

Game one provided most of the day?s highlights as they outscored the visitors 9-3 to end the game with a 15-12 win. The second game was also a game of runs, as Providence stormed out to a 5-0 lead, but the Wildcats came right back to score nine of the next 11 points to find themselves ahead 9-7. The Friars would not be denied, however, as they went on an 8-2 run to win the game by a score of 15-11.

The third and fourth games were similar battles to the previous two, but each time Villanova made a run, Providence would return a bigger run of their own. Games three and four were won by the Friars 15-9 and 15-7, respectively.

Leaders on the day for the ?Cats were junior Breen Eddinger with 14 kills, senior captain Stacey Moline with 43 assists, and Erin Pfotzer with 17 digs.

Villanova?s next match will be at Drexel University on Wednesday, Oct. 13, for a non-conference battle.
