Villanova Univeristy Athletics

Matthew Mitchell serves on Villanova's sports medicine staff as an associate athletic trainer. Mitchell joined Villanova in July 2015 as an assistant athletic trainer and currently functions as the contact for men's soccer and swimming and diving.

Prior to arriving at Villanova, Matthew worked as an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Cincinnati for four years, covering men’s soccer and women’s tennis.

Mitchell earned his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Pittsburgh in 2009 and went on to earn his M.S. in Exercise Science from Syracuse University in 2011. While at Syracuse, he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer working with the men's soccer team and assisted with coverage of football, men’s lacrosse and men's and women's basketball.

Matthew is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and currently resides in West Oak Lane with his wife Rita and son Miles.

Mitchell has been a NATA-BOC Certified Athletic Trainer since 2009 and is licensed by the state of Pennsylvania.
