Matt O'Connor

The newest member of the Wildcats coaching staff is a familiar face as Matt O’Connor begins a role as the team’s wide receivers coach in 2026. He is as 2022 graduate of Villanova who played 12 career games for the program before going on to pursue his MBA and play in 14 games as a quarterback at Stetson in 2023 and 2024. O’Connor will recruit New York sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 10 in addition to Pennsylvania’s District 2 in his duties with the Wildcats.
 
O’Connor was a versatile member of the Villanova roster from 2019-22 as a quarterback who eventually earned playing time as the team’s holder during his senior season. A successful student-athlete off the field as well, O’Connor was named to the CAA Football Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll and the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll in all eight of his semesters on campus. After graduating from Villanova, O’Connor continued his collegiate career at Stetson where he threw for 1,570 yards and seven touchdowns.
