New for the 2025-26 academic year, Villanova will announce its top performers from the previous week in a press release and social media post each Monday afternoon. The weekly wrap will recognize one standout student-athlete from each sport who competed during the previous week.
 
VILLANOVA, Pa.—Easter week was a big one for the Villanova men's and women's lacrosse teams who each tallied big conference victories during the week. The men's team knocked off No. 20 Denver in a 9-7 win on the Wildcats home field, while the women traveled to Connecticut and posted a 10-8 victory for their second BIG EAST win of the season. Nine teams were in action overall during the holiday week, including the rowing team opening its Spring season at the Ram Invitational Regatta hosted by Fordham. One student-athlete from each team that competed forms this week's Villanova Athletics Weekly Wrap sponsored by Zajac and Padilla.
 
Baseball
Mark Gialluisi
Redshirt Sophomore, Catcher, Westfield, N.J.
 
Gialluisi recently had a stretch in which he drove in a run in five consecutive games. Three of those games came during the past week and included him hitting his first home run of the season in the Wildcats BIG EAST opener against Butler. Gialluisi slashed .429/.529/.714 while drawing three walks and striking out just once in 17 plate appearances in four games total last week.
 
Men's Lacrosse
George Glomb
Junior, Faceoff, Wyndmoor, Pa.
 
Glomb dominated possession as Villanova tallied its second Top 20 win of the season with a 9-7 triumph over BIG EAST rival Denver. He went 13-of-18 at the X and picked up seven ground balls to help the Wildcats get back to .500 on the season (5-5) and improve to 2-0 in conference play. Over his last two games, Glomb has won 30-of-41 faceoffs (71%) while picking up 16 ground balls.
 
Women's Lacrosse
Mary Moore
Redshirt Sophomore, Midfield, Annapolis, Md.
 
Moore earns her second straight selection to the Weekly Wrap after leading Villanova in points in a pair of road games against Connecticut and Marquette last week. She has tallied four or more points in four straight games and five of her last six outings. Moore registered four assists in a 10-8 win at UConn for the Wildcats second straight BIG EAST victory, then scored a hat trick with two more assists for a five-point day at Marquette.

Cate Donnelly
Senior, Cumming, Ga.
 
Donnelly was the coxswain for Villanova's V8 crew which had the team's largest winning margin in a morning race with Sacred Heart at the Ram Invitational. They posted a 7:07.67 time which sent them to the Grand Final where the tallied a second place finish with a time of 7:02.61, the fastest of any Villanova boat on the day.
 
Softball
Maddie Burrows
Senior, Second Base, Waterford, Conn.
 
Burrows reached base six times in 11 plate appearances during a three-game series at Connecticut and extended her consecutive games streak of reaching base safely to 18 in a row. She had three hits in the UConn series, including an RBI double and a run scored in the series opener. Burrows also drew a career high three walks in the series finale and slashed .375/.545/.500 in the three games.
 
Men's Tennis
Cameron Kruep
Sophomore, Denver, Colo.
 
It was a busy week for the Wildcats with three matches on the schedule. Kruep closed out the week with consecutive singles victories over Rider and DePaul from the No. 6 spot in the lineup. He won in straight sets against Rider with a 6-4, 6-4 decision, then rallied after losing the second set versus DePaul to post a 7-5, 0-6, 10-7 victory for Villanova's only team point in the match.
 
Women's Tennis
Olivia Corcoran
Sophomore, Cary, N.C.
 
Villanova played just one match last week and Corcoran was a winner in straight sets from the top spot in the lineup. She bested her opponent from Connecticut for a 6-3, 7-5 victory. Corcoran has played exclusively at No. 1 singles this Spring and has posted five wins over her last eight decisions.
 
Men's Outdoor Track & Field
Bailey Habler
Junior, Distance, Sydney, Australia
 
Habler broke the meet record in the 1500 meters at the Sam Howell Invitational in his outdoor season debut last week. He posted a time of 3:42.30 to win the fast heat of the 1500. Habler's time came within a tenth of a second of being the equivalent of a sub-four-minute mile and was just .15 off his personal best in the 1500 meters.
 
Women's Outdoor Track & Field
Malaika Cunningham
Junior, Jumps, St. Andrew, Jamaica
 
Cunningham opened her outdoor season at the Pepsi Florida Relays and finished in second place out of 16 competitors in the high jump. She cleared the bar at 1.72 meters after starting her day 2-for-2 with successful attempts at 1.67 meters and 1.72 meters. She was eliminated along with three other athletes when the bar was moved to a height of 1.76 meters.
