NEW HAVEN, CONN. — Villanova Golf spent the early days of the fall break competing at the SHU Fall Classic. The Wildcats placed third out of 11 teams, shooting 892 (+28). The host Sacred Heart Pioneers shot 883 (+19) to win their tournament, and Félix Dubé of Laval finished one under par (215) to earn the individual title.
 
Vibhav Alokam tied for fifth in the tournament, his first top-five finish of the season. The junior finished with 220 strokes, resulting to four over par. He shot 76 (+4) in the first round and followed that up with a tournament-low round two score of 70 (-2) to finish off day one of competition. He concluded the tournament by shooting 74 (+2) in round three.
 
Evan Rohde earned his second top-10 finish of the season by tying for 10^th place. The freshman shot 223 (+7), highlighted by a team-leading 71-stroke (-1) first round.
 
Sophomore Luke Leonard was the number three Wildcat in New Haven, placing 21^st with a score of 227 (+11). The Florida native opened the tournament shooting one over par (73) in the first round, then shot 76 (+4) and 78 (+6) in rounds two and three.
 
AJ Colonna and Ian Love were the next two Villanova finishers, tying for 32^nd with a score of 232 (+16). Colonna steadily improved over the course of the competition to achieve a new career low 54-hole score. The freshman shot 81 (+9) in round one, 76 (+4) in round two, and tied his career low in the final round with 75 (+3). Love on the other hand kicked off the tournament with a career low 71-stroke first round, his first round under par in his career. The junior shot 80 (+8) and 81 (+9) in rounds two and three, respectively.
 
Michael Block finished 41^st as the final Wildcat competitor, scoring 238 (+22) in his first 54-hole competition. He shot a pair of 78s (+6) in the first and third round and short 82 (+10) in round two.
 
The Wildcats are competing again next week on Oct. 19-20 at the Delaware Intercollegiate. The University of Delaware will host at Wyncote Golf Club in Oxford, Pa.
