New for the 2025-26 academic year, Villanova will announce its top performers from the previous week in a press release and social media post each Monday afternoon. The weekly wrap will recognize one standout student-athlete from each sport who competed during the previous week.
VILLANOVA, Pa.—Women's track & field junior sprinter Olivia Allen (Kingwood, Texas) was named the BIG EAST Women's Track Athlete of the Week and graduate guard Devin Askew (Sacramento, Calif.) from men's basketball landed a spot on the weekly BIG EAST Honor Roll following an exciting week of action in Villanova Athletics. Allen ad Askew are two of the six Wildcats who were named to this week's Weekly Wrap for their standout performances during the previous week. The Villanova Athletics Weekly Wrap is sponsored by Zajac and Padilla.
Men's Basketball
Devin Askew, Graduate, Guard, Sacramento, Calif.
Askew reached the 20-point plateau in consecutive games last week against Providence and St. John's. He helped key an 88-82 road win over the Friars with a team-high 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor to go along with seven assists. Askew tallied 21 points on 6-of-10 shooting in addition to four rebounds in a narrow loss to the Red Storm over the weekend. In the two games over the past week he averaged 20.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per contest while shooting .545 (12-22) from the field which included an even split of 6-of-11 shooting on both 2-point and 3-point field goals. He added 11-of-13 (.846) accuracy at the foul line.
Women's Basketball
Jasmine Bascoe, Sophomore, Guard, Milton, Ont.
After being held to 3-of-13 shooting by No. 1 and undefeated Connecticut in a Thursday night road matchup, Bascoe paced the Wildcats to a 73-65 win over Butler on Sunday afternoon in which she had team highs of 22 points and six assists while shooting 9-of-18 from the field. Consistency was key for Bascoe as she had 11 points in each half against the Bulldogs and tied for the team lead with three steals. The game was Bascoe's seventh 20-point outing of the season. She is averaging 17.2 points, 4.7 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game for Villanova, which has already reached 15 wins this season (15-4, 8-2 BIG EAST).
Women's Swimming & Diving
Alana Leen, Sophomore, Back/IM, Arlington, Mass.
Villanova picked up two wins last week and Leen recorded five individual first place finishes in a pair of duals against Richmond and James Madison. She was the Wildcats only double winner against Richmond as she swept the 100 yard backstroke (57.11) and 200 yard backstroke (2:01.88) races in a 168-132 team win. Leen was back in top form in a 186-113 decision over James Madison as she once again swept the backstroke events (56.96 100 back; 2:01.88 200 back) in addition to winning the 200 yard individual medley in 2:06.52.
Women's Tennis
Olivia Corcoran, Sophomore, Cary, N.C.
Villanova opened its spring season with a match against Big Ten foe Penn State on Sunday afternoon. Corcoran played in the No. 1 singles position for the first time and teamed with junior Jenna Stevens in a No. 2 doubles match which was not completed before the doubles point was decided. Corcoran returned to the No. 1 singles position in a second straight dual against Penn on Monday morning. The second-year member of the Wildcats roster made her collegiate debut last season playing mostly at No. 2 singles, including posting a win in the BIG EAST semifinal round to help Villanova advance to its first conference title match.
Men's Indoor Track & Field
Jack Fenlon, Redshirt Freshman, Distance, Laois, Ireland
Fenlon won the mile at the Quaker Invitational in his first race of the new year. He paced a field of 29 runners with a winning time of 4:06.34 and comfortably cruised to a margin of victory of nearly three seconds at the finish line in the first and fastest heat. Fenlon lowered his lifetime best in the mile by nearly four seconds and was one of two Wildcats to PR in the event at the meet.
Women's Indoor Track & Field
Olivia Allen, Junior, Sprints, Kingwood, Texas
Allen keeps making history for the Wildcats, most recently in her season debut at the Quaker Invitational where she posted a time of 1:11.02 in the 500 meters. That mark leads the NCAA this season and is the second-fastest time in Villanova history. She trails only the school record of 1:10.81 which has stood since 1991. Allen's time is the sixth-fastest in the world to date in 2026 and marks the second time in her career that she has passed her mother, Wildcats great Debbie Grant, on one of the program's all-time performance lists. Allen passed Grant in the 400 meter hurdles during the 2025 outdoor season.
