NEW YORK – For the first time this season, Villanova has landed a Freshman of the Week laurel with Avrie Nelsen receive the nod from the BIG EAST on Monday.

She is the third Wildcat to be honored this season and the first to land one of the major weekly awards. Villanova has now been represented on the awards ledger for three consecutive weeks.

Nelsen scored a brace in the win at Penn with goals in the 32ns and 36th minutes, becoming the first Wildcat to have a multi-goal game this season. She had a team-high five shots, four on goal and four points, both of those registering as team-highs this season. Her goal in the 36^th minute was also the first game-winner. The Dix Hills, N.Y. has scored a goal in two of the last three games.

The Wildcats open BIG EAST play this Saturday against Seton Hall. Kickoff from Higgins Soccer Complex is set for 4 p.m.
