Pair of Third-Place Finishes Highlight Opener at Head of the Schuylkill

The bronze performances bring Villanova to three medals in the last three appearances at the regatta

PHILADELPHIA – Two Villanova boats posted third-place finishes for an overall at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on Saturday. All-told, Villanova saw eight of its nine boats notch top-20 finishes with four of those being in the top-5 of their respective races.

The group of Kate Shipley, Maggie Coyne, Jalyn Colon, Sarah Robillard and Natalia Peng combined twice on the day for those top-three finishes. The Wildcats were in the Wildcat Championship Fours shell that crossed in 13:53.013 early in the day before joining Sylvia Marks, Bailey Bryan, Ella Cooper and Ava DeJong in the final Championship Eights race of the day where they finished in 12:45.156. Both times put them 20 seconds out of winning times and came in Championship Fours and Eights fields that had 56 and 27 entries, respectively.

The medals mark the first for the Wildcats at the regatta since a silver medal in the Championship Fours back in 2023.

"After a successful day like today, I am just so happy for our athletes," head coach Carissa Adams said. "We went into this regatta with lofty goals for the entire team and they exceeded all expectations. Four years ago, we set out to build a strong foundation for this program and the three recruits and two walk-ons that stayed with and bought into the vision were able to realize it today. I am proud of every athlete on this squad for the energy they bring every day and most importantly, I am full of gratitude for our senior leaders that have helped us construct a winning culture. We remain #onPACE."

The Frosh/Novice Four boat of Gia Rynkiewicz, Sarah Kearney, Farrah Bardouille, Abi Siddons, Addison Ismael started the day with a strong fourth-place time of 15:06.006. They finished a minute out of first and just two seconds back of a top-three finish.

Two Wildcat boats finished in the top five of the Championship Fours field. Nearly 30 seconds behind the third-place 'Cats in fifth was the shell with Abby Shang, Marks, Bryan, Cooper and DeJong, finishing with a time of 14:21.566. Lorelei Cadorette, Sabrina Pauli, Meg Wolf, Silvana Torres and Emmi Stanton turned in a 15:03.132 time that was good enough for 17th while Izzy Cericola, Isabelle Rotival, Taylor Pansy, Abigail Saraceno and Ava Hoefert were 33rd with a 15:34.592 showing.

The Frosh/Novice Eights saw Grace Maguire, Kaelyn Whitaker, Sofia Broughman, Eileen English, Eliska Bohmanova, Rebecca Marinella, Callie Hopkins, Lilly Wavle and Alyssa Santa went 16:08.579 to finish 11th.

Villanova's two boats in the Club Championship Eights crossed in a 10-11 showing. The boat with Jessica Repetto, Sarah McKee, Nicola Ranone, Mary Tracy, Anabelle Wang, Mary Eagle, Isabelle Rotival, Addison Ismael and Emmi Stanton crossed in 13:45.514 while Cate Donnelly, Pauli, Sarah Kearney, Farrah Bardouille, Rachel Patrykus, Torres, Wolf, Natalia Brozyna and Abi Siddons posted a 13:46.061 finish.

Villanova is back in action next weekend as it heads to New Jersey for the Princeton Invitational on Nov. 2.
