Sadie Sigfstead To Compete at NCAA Championships on Saturday Morning

Women’s race gets underway at 10:20 a.m. Eastern time on ESPNU

MADISON, Wis.—Villanova senior Sadie Sigfstead (Edmonton, Alta.) is an individual qualifier for the 2024 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships and will run her third career race at the national meet in Madison, Wis. on Saturday morning. The women's 6K race begins at 10:20 a.m. Eastern time (9:20 a.m. Central time) and will be televised live on ESPNU and ESPN+. The men's race follows at 11:10 a.m. Eastern time (10:10 a.m. CT).

Sigfstead has already won a race on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course this season. She was the individual champion of the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational back in September in a season debut which earned her national acclaim. Sigfstead became the Wildcats first runner to earn cross country National Athlete of the Week honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the Nuttycombe race.

The success this season for Sigfstead builds off an equally strong finish to her 2024 competition seasons which ended with a second team All-America performance in the 10000 meters at the outdoor NCAA Championships. She has continued to flourish since the Nuttycombe meet and has posted three consecutive top-10 finishes at the Princeton Fall Classic, the BIG EAST Championships and the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional.

Sigfstead is a three-time All-BIG EAST and Mid-Atlantic All-Region performer in cross country, with her most recent accolades coming in her past two races. She made her NCAA Championships debut as a first year collegian in 2021 and tallied a 93rd place individual finish. After redshirting the 2022 cross country season, she returned strong last year and moved up 22 spots at the national meet to finish in 71st place.

Villanova has achieved unprecedented success at the NCAA Championships over the years and owns a record nine women's national titles to go along with nine individual national champions. Over the years the Wildcats have produced 56 All-Americans in cross country.
