HAVERFORD, Pa.—In the first race of her collegiate career
Micah Trusty (Philadelphia, Pa.) covered the three-mile Alumni Course at Haverford in 17:56.0 and led Villanova with a fourth place finish in the Main Line Invitational on Friday afternoon. The meet was the second of two on the schedule for the Wildcats on their first competition day of the season. Earlier on Friday a contingent of Villanova runners placed fourth in the Coaching Tree Invitational in Indiana.
Six runners competed for the Wildcats at Haverford, including two who were making their collegiate debuts. Trusty finished fourth overall in the field of 73 runners and was followed in short order by four other Villanova runners as the team's five scorers all crossed the line within 33 seconds of each other. Sophomore
Madison Martinez (Gahanna, Ohio) was second in the lineup and sixth overall with a time of 17:59.0. She was followed in seventh place by first year runner
Kinsey Pogue (Danville, Calif.) who recorded a time of 18:01.8.
The final two scorers for the Wildcats were sophomores
Alex Stasichin (Massapequa, N.Y.) and
Maya Dorer (New York, N.Y.) who came in 10
th and 12
th, respectively. Stasichin tallied a time of 18:11.8 and Dorer crossed the line in 18:28.9. Sophomore
Kate Flynn (Gray, Tenn.) was also in action for Villanova and recorded a time of 20:39.8 in the race.
With two meets down in one day to open the 2022 season, the Wildcats will turn their attention to preparing for the Paul Short Run at Lehigh on Friday, September 30.
