Pine Mountain, Ga. - After the first 16 holes of the 2022 BIG EAST Championship, the Villanova golf team is tied for eighth place after shooting +8 (296). The field of 10 teams currently has Marquette topping the leaderboards with a score of -7 (281).
Two Wildcats are currently tied for sixth place at -2, in sophomore
Peter Weaver and graduate student
Matthew Copeland. Both have shot one-under par on the first round of par 3s, with Weaver totaling four birdies after day one. Before the tournament began this morning, the BIG EAST announced that Weaver had been named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team for his performance this season, averaging a 73.32 stroke average and two first place finishes.
Carding the next lowest score for Villanova was senior
Noah Peck, who shot +4 (76) on Monday. Rounding out the 'Cats lineup were senior
Matt Davis and freshman
Vimal Alokam, after each player shot +8 at Callaway Gardens.
