RALEIGH, N.C.—In the first event of a busy day for Villanova at the Raleigh Relays, senior pole vaulter
Jim Keys (Herndon, Va.) came in sixth in his section at Paul H. Derr Track where he cleared the bar at a height of 4.57 meters on Friday morning. Several women's events made up the rest of Friday's event schedule for the Wildcats, who will have both men's and women's athletes in competition on Saturday when the three-day meet at North Carolina State wraps up.
Keys competed in the unseeded section of the pole vault and began the day with the bar at a height of 4.42 meters. He made it over on his third and final attempt at that height before the bar was raised 15 centimeters to a height of 4.57 meters. Keys once again had a successful clearance on his final attempt and he was one of six competitors remaining in the section when the bar moved to 4.72 meters. Half of the remaining competitors were eliminated at that height.
Two men's events make up the Saturday schedule for Villanova, with the long jump getting underway at 2 p.m. and the 400 meter hurdles beginning at 2:35 p.m.
