Stahl moves up the program record book in first day of NIC

Four events saw Wildcats compete

ELKHART, Ind. – Perri Stahl gained another top-10 time in the Villanova record book by the end the opening day of the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) National Invitational Championship on Thursday at the Beacon Health Aquatic Center.

The lone Wildcat in the 50 Breast, Stahl notched her second-fastest time in the event, clocking in at 29.55 during the prelims, leaving her at 30th. That time lands her the ninth-fastest time in program history. Later on, she logged a time of 23.86 in the prelims of the 50 Free, landing her at 49th. That time is her fifth-fastest in the event during her junior campaign. Stapleton was nearly two-tenths of a second behind her, touching in 24.15 for 64th.

Villanova had two representatives in the 500 Free. Brenna McLaughlin went 5:03.10, giving her the 43rd spot in the field. Not far behind her was Francesca Raimondi, touching in 5:10.50 for 49th.

In the evening's 200 Free Relay, McLaughlin, Stahl, Cara Stapleton and Raimondi touched with a time of 1:37.92, good enough for 40th overall.

The second day of the event begins with prelims at 9:30 a.m. before finals start at 6 p.m. Only one individual event is on slate for the Wildcats as Stahl takes to the block for the 100 Breast. She will be joined by the other three 'Cats in relay action during the evening for the 200 Medley and 800 Free.
