Wildcats to Conclude Regular Season at DePaul

Nova looking to build on its win over Navy last week in season finale

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova travels to Chicago this week to close out its 2022 regular season at DePaul Wednesday at 2 p.m. eastern time. The match will be live streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network on Flo Sports.

Villanova picked up a 1-0 victory over Navy in a non-conference meeting on Oct. 25 at the Higgins Soccer Complex to conclude what had been a bumpy month of October. The Wildcats bring a 6-8-2 overall, 2-601 BIG EAST record into Wednesday's season finale.

"We finished business at home the right way," stated Villanova head coach Tom Carlin. "Now we want to do the same thing on the road at DePaul."

The Blue Demons are tied in the BIG EAST standings with the Wildcats, with each team having seven points. The overall record for DePaul is 4-6-6, 1-4-4 BIG EAST).

"We had the last week off just because of how it worked out with the Big East bye," noted Carlin. "It gave us the chance to recover and give some of the guys a break. We had been going twice a week for a while and it adds up."

Now, the focus is on 2023, with much of the current roster due to return next season.

"We've talked to our guys that we have a two-week head start on next year," said Carlin. "It's unfortunate, we would like to be in a different position. We've got to keep plugging away. It's not so much about wins or losses but about our effort, how we come out to practice every day.

"It's a weird time but we're trying to make the most of it."
