Hamilton, N.Y. – After tying for eighth after one day and two round of action, Villanova finished the Alex Lagowitz Memorial in seventh place. As a team, they scored 889 (308+287+294), which put them at 25-over par.
After leading Villanova through the first two rounds of play,
Peter Weaver continued his solid play, shooting 2-over in the third round, to finish at 4-over par. Weaver (75+71+74) had five birdies in his last round of play, finishing with 10 total.
In their first tournaments as Wildcats,
Matthew Copeland and
Vimal Alokam shot nine and 11-over respectively. Copeland (74+74+77) tallied two birdies all three times through the back nine. In Alokam's (82+73+72) first collegiate action, he was able shake off the nerves after the first round, shooting 1-over and even in the last two rounds.
To round out Villanova's competitors,
Luke Alexander finished the tournament with scores of 79+70+79 (+12),
Matt Minerva shot 82+73+74 (+13) and
Matt Davis scored 80+78+74 (+16).
The Wildcats finished the tournament tied for first with three eagles and third with 195 total pars. As a group they shot 13-under on par 5's after three days of play.
Villanova's next tournament will be next weekend, September 11-12, at the Doc Gimmler Intercollegiate. This tournament will be hosted by St. Johns in Farmingdale, N.Y.
