Golf Sits in 7th After First Day of Doc Gimmler

Farmingdale, NY - After two rounds, the Villanova Golf team sits in seventh at the Doc Gimmler Intercollegiate. As a team, the Wildcats shot 579 (289+290, +10) on Bethpage State Park's par-70 Red Course. 

Leading the team was Peter Weaver, who sits tied for third after the first day of action. Weaver shot 68 in his first round, following that up with a score of 71 (139 total). Through the two rounds, Weaver has six birdies, tied for the fourth most. 

Noah Peck (+3) and Matthew Copeland (+8) followed for Villanova. Peck sits tied for 20th, having shot 143 (73+70, +3). For Copeland, he shot 72 on his first go around and 76 in the second round (148). 

Rounding out the team lineup for the 'Cats was Matt Minerva (+10) and Vimal Alokam (+11). Minerva shot 76 and 74 in his two rounds (150), while Alokam improved his score by one stroke in the second round (76+75, 151).

Jack O'Hara competed individually, finishing tied for 61st. He finished day one 11-over par, shooting 151 (73+78).
