NEWARK, Del.—Six different individual winners and a victory in the 400 yard freestyle relay helped Villanova (1-0) post an exciting 150-149 victory over Delaware (0-1) in a dual meet at Rawstrom Natatorium on Saturday afternoon. Senior Kelly Montesi (Greenwich, Conn.) was a double winner in the 100 and 200 yard butterfly while adding a second place finish in the 200 yard individual medley. Montesi won the 100 yard fly in 56.75 and the 200 yard fly in 2:05.05. She recorded a time of 2:08.10 in the 200 IM to lead four Villanova athletes in that race.
 
The 400 free relay squad of junior Abbey Berloco (Cranbury, N.J.), sophomore Perri Stahl (La Grange, Ill.), junior Grace Wielar (Richmond, Va.) and senior Milly Routledge (North Ascot, U.K.) outkicked Delaware by nine-tenths of a second and recorded a winning time of 3:31.28 to earn the decisive points in the Wildcats team victory in the season opener for both teams. Routledge anchored the race with a split of 51.93 over the final 100 yards and held off a charge by the Blue Hens anchor to touch the wall first.
 
Berloco was an individual winner earlier in the day when she recorded a winning time of 52.53 in the 100 yard freestyle. Villanova tallied a 1-2 finish in the 100 yard backstroke, with freshman Audrey Pastorek (Savannah, Ga.) claiming the win in 59.11 to come in just ahead of Wielar who was second in 59.66. Junior Nicole Welch (Beverly, Mass.) won the 1000 yard freestyle in 10:27.99.
 
Senior Rayann Jaryszak (Arlington, Texas) and sophomore Kaitlin Gravell (Ashton, Md.) were individual winners in the 100 yard breaststroke and the 200 yard breaststroke, respectively. Jaryszak touched the wall in 1:07.47 in the 100 breast, while Gravell's winning time in the 200 breast was 2:24.82.
