Powell's Point, NC – Villanova golf finished the OBX/ODU Intercollegiate in fourth place, with a total score of 847. On the third and final day, the Wildcats shot 5-under par, to finish the tournament with that score. The team's 5-under par in the final round was the best out of all 17 competing schools.
For Villanova,
Matthew Copeland finished tied for fourth place, after shooting 6-under par (70+69+68, 207). In all three rounds, Copeland shot under par, including a total of 10 birdies. His 41 pars were third best among all individuals.
Peter Weaver tied for 12
th, with a score of 1-under par. He shot 212 after three rounds (69+73+70). His 13 birdies were the sixth most in the tournament.
Vimal Alokam finished the tournament tied for 32
nd, with a score of 4-over par (74+67+76, 217). In his second round, Alokam recorded seven birdies to score -4.
Noah Peck shot 7-over par (78+72+70, 220) in Powell's Point, improving his score each round.
Jonathan Elkins rounded out the Wildcat lineup, shooting 223 over the three days of golf, for a score of 10-over par (74+78+71).
Delaware (-13) took home first place in the tournament, with a total team score of 839 (278+278+283). Drexel (-10) placed second shooting 842 (281+278+283), while Georgetown (-6) finished narrowly behind in third at 846 (278+276+292).
Drue Nicholas of Drexel claimed the individual title, with a score of 12-under par (65+66+70, 201).
Villanova will continue play this weekend competing in their final fall tournament, the City 6 Invitational. The event will be played at Llanerch Country Club in Havertown, PA on Saturday, October 30.
