Marston and Barr Post Strong Times in 5000 Meters in Seattle

Villanova duo competed in the Husky Classic on Friday afternoon

SEATTLE, Wash.—Junior distance runner Andrew Marston (Wayne, Pa.) and sophomore Martin Barr (Skokie, Ill.) each competed in the 5000 meters during competition at the Husky Classic on Friday afternoon.  Marston recorded a time of 14:01.29 and Barr finished in 14:26.22 at Dempsey Indoor, where they were part of a contingent of eight men's and women's athletes from Villanova who traveled to the west coast for one of the season's top meets.

Marston came in fifth in his section of the 5000 meters and posted a time of 14:01.29, the second-fastest mark of his career and the leading BIG EAST time this season.  Euan Makepeace of Butler competed in an earlier section of the 5K at the Washington meet and briefly had a conference-best time of 14:01.71 before being eclipsed by Marston later in the day.  They are the only two runners ahead of Barr on this year's BIG EAST performance list.  Barr's time of 14:26.22 is also the second-fastest of his career.
