Philadelphia, Pa. --- The Wildcat women's tennis team won a hard-fought match against St. Joseph's by a match score of 6-1. The score is not an indication of the tough play, however, as all three doubles matches on the afternoon were decided in tie-breakers.
Villanova captured five of six singles' wins as Ashley Young (Easton, Pa.) and Jennifer Zick (Colts Neck, N.J.) improved each of their individual records to 3-0. Freshman Jessie Rybacki (Salisbury, Md.) defeated the Hawks' Pilar Glodzik, 6-0 and 6-0, in their match-up at the fourth singles post.
The Wildcat pairing of Jennifer Zick and Anne Morgan (Wheaton, Ill.) walked away from their No. 2 doubles match with a win, as they beat Jance Hoy and Pilar Glodzik by a score of 9-8. The No. 3 team of freshmen Kelly McAndrew (Barrington, R.I.) and Erica Walter (Mount Laurel, N.J.) overcame their Hawks' counterparts, winning 9-8.
The 'Cats get back into action on Thursday, September 28th when they travel to Easton, Pa. to take on the Leopards of Lafayette College at 3:00 p.m.
