Villanova, Pa.-- The Villanova golf team placed fifth at the fall season opening Cornell-Colgate Invitational held at Seven Oaks Golf Club in Ithaca, New York. The Wildcats shot an opening round 313 on Saturday, September 9th, and a final round 312 on Sunday, September 10th, for a two-day total of 625. Binghamton University won the team title with a score of 611.

Leading the way for Villanova was junior Nick Maselli (Fishkill, N.Y./John Jay) with an opening round 78 and final round 76. The total of 154 was good enough to tie Maselli for 12th in the two-day invitational. Senior Mike Spishock (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown) finished 18th after firing a 156 (79/77).

Other scorers for the Wildcats included junior Chris Ellis (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) who placed 26th with a 158 (77/81), senior Brian Hickey (Burr Ridge, Ill/Benet Academy) who finished 41st after shooting a 160 (79/81), and senior Garret Feduke (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) who tallied a 162 (84/78) to place 49th.

Villanova will be in action next on September 16th and 17th at the James Madison Invitational.
