VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova junior Mike Brown (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) placed fourth in his heat of the 400 meter hurdles in the first day of competition at the 2000 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Duke University. Brown, who failed to advance to the finals, was timed in 50.85.

Three Wildcat women will begin competition on Thursday, June 1. Junior hurdler Charmaine Walker (Plainfield, N.J.) runs at 6:20 p.m. in the preliminary heat of the 100 meter hurdles, while senior Carmen Douma (Cambridge, Ontario) will race in the semifinal heat of the 1,500 meter run at 8:10 p.m. Carrie Tollefson (Dawson, Minn.) will hit the track at 8:55 p.m. when she competes in the semifinal heat of the 3,000 meter run. Tollefson is both the indoor and outdoor defending 3,000 meter champion.
