VILLANOVA, PA.--- Hosting Towson University on March 27, at the Villanova Tennis Courts, the Villanova women's tennis team recorded a dominating performance in a 8-1 victory. The win improved the Wildcats' record to 9-5 overall on the season.
Villanova won five out of the six singles matches on the day. Sophomore Julie Darne defeated Terry Dumansky in No. 1 singles, by the scores of 6-3, and 6-1. At the No. 3 position, Stephane Ariot beat Towson's Lindsy Brown 6-3, and 6-4. Sophomore Megan Laxcroix put on an outstanding display, cruising by Betsy Chew 6-0, 6-1. Also tallying singles wins were Liz Farrell and Sara Fabrizio. Farrell defeated Stacey Pisnatelli 6-1, 6-1, while Fabrizio beat Molly Collier 6-2 and 6-0.
In doubles action, the Wildcats' No. 1 tandem of Darne and Young defeated Dumansky and Scott 8-6. In No. 2 doubles, Lacroix and Farrell beat Brown and Pisnatelli 8-5. In the final doubles match of the day, Ariot and Anne Morgan defeated Chew and Collier.
Villanova will resume play on March 28, hosting Seton Hall at 3:00 p.m.
