Villanova, Pa. - On Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October 30, the Villanova Wildcat golf team traveled to Leesburg, Virginia to do battle in the Georgetown University Invitational. In their last tournament of their fall season, the Wildcats finished in 14th place. Senior Chris Ellis (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) fired a two-day 159 to place tied for 33rd overall. He was the top finisher for Villanova. Ellis began the tournament with an opening round 80 and then bettered his effort by one stoke in the final round.
Other scorers for Villanova included freshman Matt Gugino (Leroy, N.Y./Leroy) and senior Brian Hickey Burr Ridge, Ill./Benet Academy). Gugino placed tied for 48th overall after shooting a 162. Gugino shot and opening round and final round 81. Hickey joined Ellis and Gugino as the Wildcats top three finishers. He placed tied for 55th after firing a 164. Hickey shot two rounds of 82 to achieve his total.
Rounding out the scoring for the Wildcats was freshman John Kisamineo (Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach) and senior Nick Maselli (Fishkill, N.Y./John Jay). Kisamineo shot a 169 (86/83) to finish tied for 69th. Maselli placed tied for 78th after firing a 173 (80/93).
Villanova will not be in action until their spring season begins.
