Men's Tennis Sinks the Ship for Pirates

April 7, 1999

On Saturday, April 3, the Villanova men's tennis team clinched another win as they defeated the Seton Hall Pirates by a match score of 5-2. The Wildcats are fresh off three consecutive wins, and with this match as another mark in the win column, that would be four wins in a row and a 10-6 record for the year.

Moore, Mock, Prats, and Shofield all recorded wins for the Wildcats in their singles match-ups. Ramon Prats, a junior from Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, set back his opponent with the greatest of ease, registering scores of 6-1, 6-0 at fifth singles.

Villanova dominated each of the three doubles matches. With scores like 8-4, 8-6, and at the third doubles post, a score of 8-0 as the Wildcat pair of Michael Mock and Josh Schofield took care of Seton Hall's Alfredo Aguilar and John Macrina.

The Cats resume play on Thursday, April 8 when they travel to take on the Fightin' Blue Hens of the University of Delaware.
