The Villanova women?s tennis team improved its record to 5-1 on Saturday, October 2nd when they defeated the SUNY Binghamton Bearcats by a final score of 6-3.
In singles action on the afternoon Villanova captured the second, third, fifth and sixth posts. Sophomore Julie Darne dropped a heartbreaker in three sets at first singles to SUNY?s Julie Klein 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. ?Nova?s Stephane Ariot defeated her Bearcat opponent, Heather Binen, at the fifth singles position 6-3, 6-3.
The Wildcats were victorious in two of the three doubles matches on the day. The number one doubles pairing of Julie Darne and Ashley Young won over Julie Klein and Heather Binen of SUNY 8-2. Stephane Ariot and Anne Morgan also brought home a win for the ?Cats at third doubles, defeating the Bearcats? Meghan McLaughlin and J.P. Piorkowski 8-5.
The team gets back into action on Tuesday, October 5th when they travel to comete against Millersville University at 3:00p.m.
