On Saturday, October 9th, the Villanova women?s tennis team defeated the St. John?s Red Storm by a final score of 6-3. The team concludes its fall season with a victory and boasts an overall record of 7-2.

Singles standouts for the ?Cats include Stephane Ariot who, at fifth singles, posted her sixth win of the season by defeating St. John?s M. Blamaru 6-1, 6-0. Villanova?s Liz Farrell also captured her sixth win of the season by blanking C. Mircolis of the Red Storm 6-0, 6-0. Julie Darne and Jen Zick were also winners for ?Nova in singles competition.

In doubles action on the afternoon, Villanova pulled away with wins in two of the three doubles matches. Partners Megan Lacroix and Liz Farrell overcame St. John?s N. Mitchell and E. Jackson for an 8-5 win at the number two doubles post. At third doubles, the Wildcats? Stephane Ariot and Anne Morgan combined to get past their opponents 8-2. With the win, Ariot and Morgan improve their individual record at third doubles to 5-0 on the year.

The team returns to action in the spring of 2000 when they will travel to San Diego, Calif. over spring break.
